Art

Understory is my ode to unfinishedness: a multidisciplinary exploration of the relationship between humans and the natural world. My work shifts the gaze toward trees, fungi, and plants - giving voice to what nature has to say.

It is a love letter to forests and the invisible symbiotic bonds we have often forgotten. Through my work I explore growth, imperfection, belonging, and visibility: the quiet tension between staying unseen and reaching toward the light.

Visually I am drawn to organic shapes and textures. I'm fascinated by opposites and multidimensionality: urban vs. nature, organic vs. artificial, natural materials vs. synthetic.

I want to see my art as an invitation to a journey of merging with the natural world - explore our deep connection, the impossibility of control, and the beauty of letting go.

"Armoured"
2026

This wearable work explores how connection to nature is not only emotional or cultural, but biological.

Created from unfired natural clay mixed with Finnish Re-Connecting Nature™ microbial extract and painted with food-based dyes, the piece carries elements of forest microbial life directly against the skin.

Sculpted like protective armour inspired by pink oyster mushrooms, it functions as both visual and biological shielding when the forest is physically out of reach.

"Mossing"
2025

Referencing moss as a foundational yet often overlooked force in forest ecosystems, this two-part wearable piece explores stillness, resilience, and the desire to disappear into the forest.

Made from real moss, it imagines the body in quiet closeness with nature — carrying a fragment against the skin when the forest itself feels out of reach.

"Mushroomhead"
2025

Referencing the invisible mycelium networks that bind forest ecosystems together, this wearable piece explores the longing to reconnect the body with nature.

Made from self-grown pink oyster mushrooms and clay forms cast in self-produced bioplastic.
